SinLines Terms and Conditions
These terms are the agreement between you and Ananth Babu G ("we") about using SinLines, on phones and on the web. By tapping "Accept and continue", or by using SinLines, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
In short
- With an account, the sample book is free to read. SinLines Premium opens the other books, all of sinLes, search and adding your own books.
- SinLines Premium, once it is on sale, is a subscription that renews by itself until you cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.
- Use SinLines for your own reading, and don't misuse it or harm other people.
- The books are classics in the public domain. The SinLines app, its name, design and cards are ours.
- SinLines is offered as it is, and we are responsible only as far as the law requires.
1. Your account
- You need an account (a username and a password) to read and to add books. It keeps your place in books, your streak, your saved lines and your words across phones.
- Your username is also how you log in, so it can't be changed later. Don't choose one that is offensive or pretends to be someone else.
- Your account can be signed in on up to 3 devices at a time. On a fourth, you choose one of the others to sign out.
- Keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else has used your account, change your password in Profile and tell us at sinlines.read@gmail.com.
- We ask for your birth year. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's agreement, and SinLines uses teen mode (see the Privacy Policy).
- Deleting your account: Profile > Delete account, or on our website. We keep your data for 7 days in case you change your mind; logging in within those 7 days cancels the deletion. After that, it is permanently deleted.
2. SinLines Premium and subscriptions
SinLines Premium is not on sale yet. When it is, these rules apply.
- Before you buy, the app shows what Premium includes, the price and how long each period lasts.
- Paying: you buy Premium through the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Apple or Google takes the payment from the account you use with them. We never see your card or bank details.
- Auto-renew: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and the store charges you for the next one, unless you cancel. On the App Store, cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends; Apple charges for the renewal within the 24 hours before it ends. On Google Play, cancel any time before the period ends.
- Cancelling: only the store can cancel a subscription. Deleting the app or your SinLines account does not cancel it.
- iPhone: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > SinLines > Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play > your profile picture > Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions > SinLines > Cancel subscription.
- After cancelling, you keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Free trials: if we offer one, it becomes a paid subscription when the trial ends, unless you cancel before it ends.
- Price changes: we will tell you before a new price applies, and the store asks for your agreement where its rules or the law require it.
- Refunds are handled by the store under its rules: for the App Store at reportaproblem.apple.com; on Google Play, through Google Play within 48 hours of buying, and after that by writing to us.
- New phone: Menu > Billing > Restore purchase brings back a subscription bought with the same store account.
- The law where you live may give you extra rights, such as cancelling within a set time. Nothing in these terms takes them away.
3. Using SinLines fairly
Please don't:
- break the law, or use SinLines to harm, threaten or harass anyone;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or into parts of SinLines you are not meant to reach;
- copy the catalog, the sinLes lines or our covers in bulk, or use bots or other automated tools on SinLines;
- get around Premium, locks or limits, or sell access to SinLines;
- overload, attack or interfere with our servers;
- copy, change or take apart (reverse engineer) the app, except where the law allows it;
- send feedback that is abusive or spam, or that includes other people's personal details;
- add books from your phone that you have no right to use.
If you seriously or repeatedly break these rules, we may suspend or close your account. Where we can, we will tell you why first.
4. Who owns what
- The books: the books in our catalog are classics whose copyright has expired in the United States, in editions their makers have released into the public domain. Copyright rules differ between countries: a book that is in the public domain in one country can still be protected in another. If you live outside the United States, check the rules where you live before copying or sharing a whole book.
- What's ours: the SinLines app, its name and logo, its design and code, the sinLes cards and their notes on why a line hits, and the look of our share cards belong to Ananth Babu G. You may use them only as these terms allow.
- Your right to use SinLines: we give you a personal right to use SinLines on phones and computers you own or control, for your own reading and not for business. You can't pass this right to anyone else.
- Sharing: you may share lines and the cards SinLines makes for you (such as your weekly card) with friends and on social media, as the app makes them, for non-commercial use.
- Yours: books you add from your phone stay on your phone, seen only by your account, and remain yours, as do the words you look up. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve SinLines without owing you anything.
5. Changes to SinLines and to these terms
- We may add, change or remove features and books. We may also update these terms. When the terms change, the version and date at the top change, and the app asks you to accept the new terms before you carry on. If you don't agree, you can stop using SinLines and delete your account.
- SinLines may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. If we ever close SinLines, we will tell you in advance where we can.
6. Our responsibility to you
- We work to keep SinLines running, correct and safe, but it is offered "as is" and "as available". We can't promise that it will always work, be free of mistakes, or that the assistant, the dictionary and the notes on lines are always right.
- As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses (such as lost profits or lost chances), for books and notes you kept only on your phone, or for problems caused by things outside our control, such as outages at our providers, your phone or your internet connection.
- As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for all claims is limited to what you paid for SinLines in the 12 months before the claim.
- Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights as a consumer under the law where you live, such as India's Consumer Protection Act 2019 or consumer laws in the EU and the UK.
7. Apple and Google
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for SinLines and its content, and for its support and maintenance.
- We, not Apple, handle any claims about SinLines, for example that it doesn't meet a legal or consumer-protection requirement, product liability claims, or claims that it breaks someone else's rights.
- If SinLines doesn't work as promised, you can tell Apple, and Apple may refund the price you paid for the app, if any. Apart from that, and as far as the law allows, Apple has no other duty about SinLines.
- You must also follow the rules of the store you got SinLines from (Apple's Usage Rules or Google Play's terms). For your purchase, where these terms and the store's rules differ, the store's rules win.
- You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States government embargo, and that you are not on a United States list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you.
8. Ending
- You can stop using SinLines at any time, and delete your account in Profile > Delete account. Cancel any subscription in the store first.
- We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires it.
- The parts of these terms that are meant to last, such as "Who owns what" and "Our responsibility to you", still apply after you stop using SinLines.
9. Law and disputes
These terms follow the laws of India. If something goes wrong, please write to us first at sinlines.read@gmail.com and we will try to put it right. Disputes go to the courts of India, but if you use SinLines as a consumer you can also go to the courts where you live, and you keep the protection of your local law.
